Employee Spotlight: Katie Pavy

Education:  Wright State University, Bachelor of Science in Business for Accounting and Finance, Master of Accounting

Favorite part about working at Flagel Huber Flagel: I love that my co-workers are fun and interesting people. I also really enjoy working with all my Not-for-Profit clients and seeing how much of a difference they make in our community.

Area of expertise at Flagel. What do you help people to do? I work mainly with Not-for-Profit organizations, typically providing an audit of their annual financial statements, as well as compliance audits of Federal funds when required. I also provide other services to NFPs, both tax and accounting.

Favorite way to spend your time:  We enjoy spending time with family and friends and trying all the great food and craft beers that Dayton has to offer. I am also an avid reader and always have a book that I’m reading, preferably one of a series, the longer the better. Additionally, I am on the board of two local NFP organizations and enjoy giving back to the community.

What is your personal/family life like?  I am married with a 4-year-old daughter. We have two dogs and several cats, as well as a few fish. My husband is an RN at Miami Valley Hospital and has recently changed to a new shift, which has been an interesting adjustment.

Fun Fact: I used to homebrew (beer) and hope to start again soon, my husband brews his own kombucha, and we make our own yogurt. Through a sub-licensee program, we have rehabilitated orphaned wildlife for release and plan to do so again once our daughter is a little older.

Favorite movie/band/musician/TV Show? One of my favorite movies is Across the Universe, and I’ve really enjoyed most of the Marvel movies.  My favorite bands are Cloud Cult and Counting Crows.  Favorite TV shows are Doctor Who, Northern Exposure, Friends, and Stranger Things.
