Employee Spotlight: Julie Kline

Education:  Miami University, Bachelor of Science in Business

Favorite part about working at Flagel Huber Flagel:  The most fulfilling part of working at FHF is the relationship I have with my clients.  Some of them I have known for all 25 years I have been with the firm.  I like being able to explain tax and accounting concepts to people when “numbers” isn’t their first language!

Area of expertise at Flagel. What do you help people to do?  One of my areas of expertise is real estate, encompassing both assurance and tax aspects, helping real estate investors with the information they need to make critical decisions.  Another area of expertise includes audits of employee benefit plans.  In this way, I help my clients maintain compliance with governmental regulation.

Favorite way to spend your time:  I have been singing in church choirs since the age of 8.  Currently, I sing 1st soprano at Christ Church Cathedral. I think music performance goes hand-in-hand with accounting; they are both mathematical and nuanced at the same time.  I also love to travel and try to get out of the country once a year.  This year I will get to combine my two passions by singing daily services at Litchfield Cathedral, UK and Christ Church Cathedral, Victoria, BC.

What is your personal/family life like?   I am the only lost sheep of my family…living in Cincinnati (I didn’t stray too far).  My dad, sister and brother all live in Akron where I grew up.  I am very fortunate that some of my best friends from college also settled in Cincinnati after school.

Fun Fact: I have traveled to over 25 countries and the continent of Antarctica.  I only have Australia left to be in the “7 continents club”.  This year I got to ride an elephant in Thailand (see picture).

Favorite movie/band/musician/TV Show?  Movie- Dead Poet’s Society, Band – If I put my favorite band, that will seriously date me. TV Show – Anything an anglophile would love…Downton Abbey, The Crown, etc.
