Ohio has several different unemployment insurance plans available. One that several companies have taken advantage of is the “SharedWork Ohio” plan.
The “SharedWork Ohio” program gives participating employers the opportunity to reduce the number of hours worked by its employees in lieu of laying off its workforce. The participating employee works the reduced hours each week, and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) provides eligible individuals an unemployment insurance benefit proportionate to their reduced hours. Employers benefit by being able to make the necessary payroll reductions while still retaining their employees. More info at http://jfs.ohio.gov/ouio/SharedWorkOhio/index.stm
Ohio has also made changes for self-employed individuals along with waiving some of the waiting times. More info at http://jfs.ohio.gov/ouio/CoronavirusAndUI.stm
