“I take pride in the fact that we do things right the first time.”

When Bruce enrolled at Wright State University to play baseball for four years, he had no idea he would be scouted and signed by Flagel Huber Flagel. “I enjoyed numbers,” he says with characteristic nonchalance. “I enrolled at WSU to play ball, started out in general business, and after a few years found myself in accounting.”

Now, after years of tax and estate planning for individuals, businesses, medical groups, and real estate entities, clients regard Bruce as something of a coach. He thrives on putting small-business owners at ease so that they can focus on growing their businesses. Whether ensuring that they are tax-compliant, helping them with tax planning, processing a transaction, or simply answering a question, Bruce views no task as too trivial if it will assist clients in their hour of need.

Having worked for FHF his whole career, Bruce keeps a growing list of attributes that he appreciates about the firm, including its team mentality: “We have a unique philosophy; we regard every client as our own, no matter which partner or manager is directly providing service. We’re all committed to helping each FHF client succeed.”

The same principle has steered Bruce toward a number of community outreach opportunities. These include his service as a past president of Prevent Blindness Ohio, a member of the St. Mary’s Asset Committee, and a planner of an annual golf outing for the benefit of Dayton Children’s Hospital, specifically for children battling leukemia.

For his own children, who are finishing up high school, Bruce strives to set an example of taking on greater responsibilities over time and converting opportunities to experiences. Each year family members look forward to Bruce and his wife’s wedding anniversary, which shares a weekend with the famed Ohio State University vs. University of Michigan football game. More than two decades later, Bruce and his wife are still rooting for each other (as well as the Buckeyes).
