BLVBrett L. Vandeman, CPA

“We care about doing what’s right.”

While Brett Vandeman “always knew” he was bound for the business world, he never predicted the diversity of experience that would mark his path toward Flagel Huber Flagel.

After exploring a finance degree, Brett ultimately was won over by accounting, graduating with a B.S. from Wright State University in 2006. He spent the next four years as a health care industry accountant with Premier Physician Services, earning an M.Acc. from WSU along the way. Then Brett grew curious about multiplying his experience — specifically in the world of public accounting.

“I sort of fell into industry,” he recalls. “But I always suspected I was meant for public accounting.”

In 2010, Brett joined Dohner, Louis, and Stephens, Inc., which merged with FHF in 2012. Since then he has specialized in meeting the accounting, audit, and tax needs of corporate and individual clients. “The public accounting environment is certainly different than industry,” he says, preferring the variety of challenges and change of pace — although he wouldn’t trade his past experience.

“Going to industry first helped me understand the other side of the table,” Brett explains. “I can relate to people as I talk to them.” Brett’s philosophy of client service is simple: build quality relationships through quality work.

Brett invests in his community by serving as a board member and treasurer of the Learning Tree Farm, a program offering children hands-on educational experiences. He enjoys golf, watching the Reds and Bengals win, and (most of all) spending time with his wife and two young children.
